can I upgrade my iPhone 4S from iOS5 to iOS6 when using iTunes 10

I have installed on my computer iTunes10 (10.7.0.21) Can I upgrade iPhone 4S which has iOS5 only to iOS6 without being forced to skip iOS6 and go straight to iOS7. Like many iPhone 4S uses, I don't like iOS7 and want upgrade my phone only to iOS6. What I need to do to avoid being trapped with this very unpopular iOS7 version. Thanks in advance. Cheers, John
