Q: my ipod has gone into recovery mode, and i need to restore my pod but it wont restore

my ipod has gone into recovery mode and i want to restore it, but itunes keeps on saying there is an error. i have looked at what it says to do, done everything but it still says there is an error. also i cant get onto my ipod as i forgot the password, hence why i want to restore it. can anyone please help?!

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 7.0.5

it keeps on coming up with this message:
the iPod "iPod" cannot be restored at this time because the iPod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavalibe.

Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem
