How can I upgrade to a version which isn't signed?

Hi, some days ago I remembered that I had some photos on my old iPod Touch 3G so I charged it and switched it on. I looked at the version of the firmware and it was on the iOS 4.1 (which is kinda old) so I tried to upgrade it. I didn't wanted to upgrade it to the iOS 5.1.1 (which is the last iOS firmware supported by the iPod Touch 3G) so I downloaded the iOS 4.3.5 and tried to restore my iPod, when a message suddenly appeared saying "error (3194)". Is it because it isn't signed by Apple? In that case, is there any solution?

The iPhone 3G can only go as high as 4.2.1. If you try a higher version you will get error messages

Yes, but if you read closer I'm talking about the IPOD TOUCH 3G.

There is no solution. It can only be updated directly to 5.1.1 and will not activate if an intermediate version is force-installed on it.

Apple only support updating/restoring an iPod (and iPhone and iPad too) to the latest iOS version for that model iPod. Otherwise you get an error message. The latest is as follows:

- A 2G to 4.2.1.

- A 3G to 5.1.1
