How do I reset a default contact list on my Iphone
iPad 2, iOS 6.0.1
Open the contacts application on your Mac, select the All Contacts group within the "Me" account on the left sidebar (so the contact list you want to keep is visible), click a single contact in the list, press Command-A to select them all (they should all be highlighted), then go to File>Export>Export vCard and save this file on your desktop.
Go the icloud.com from your Mac, sign into the "email address" account and open Contacts. Confirm that this is the contact list you want to replace. Assuming it is, select the All Contacts group (if you have multiple groups), select a single contact in the list, press Command-A to select them all (they should all now be highlighted) and press your Delete key to delete them. Confirm than their are no contacts in the account. Next, click the gear icon on the lower left, select Import vCard, navigate to the vCard you saved on your desktop and import it to iCloud. Confirm that the correct contact list now appears on icloud.com and that it also appears on your phone.
Go to System Preferences>iCloud on your Mac, sign out of the "Me" account and choose Delete at all of the prompts. Go to System Preferences>Internet Accounts (Mail,Contacts,Calendars), sign out of the "email address" account and choose Delete at all of the prompts. Go back to System Preferences>iCloud, sign into the "email address" account and wait for the data to download back to your Mac.
Your "email address" should now be the only iCloud account on your Mac and your phone and you should have the correct contact list on both.
If you are syncing contacts with multiple accounts, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) to set your default account. If you want new contacts to be added to iCloud by default, be sure to choose iCloud as your default account.
If you don't see the Default Account setting, you are not syncing contacts with Multiple accounts. What did you mean in your original post when you said you wanted to "reset a defaut contact list" on your phone?
I have two accounts; one Icloud and the other my email address; for some reason the calendar list on my Iphone is one account and is not the one I want on the Iphone; the Icloud version is the one I want on the Iphone. Hope that's clear. Thanks
Did you set up a second ("secondary") iCloud account on your Mac? The primary one would appear in System Preferences>iCloud, and the seconday account would appear in System Preferences>Internet Accounts (or Mail,Contacts,Calendars).
Yes, there are 2 accounts unfortunately
One is the 'ME' account that was my original icloud account and has the correct contact list that I want on my Iphone and it is the primary account.
The other is my email address account with Icloud that has the wrong contact list on my Iphone
I would like to get rid of the 'ME' account and make the email address account my primary one; how do I go about doing that?
Thanks
Thanks but when I go to settings>mail, contact, calendars; there is no option for "default accounts" any suggestions on what I'm not doing correctly. Thanks
I mean contact list not calendar list sorry
Did you turn Contacts on in Settings>iCloud?
yes
When you open Contacts on your device and tap Groups, do you see any non-iCloud accounts listed, such as Gmail, Yahoo, Exchange, etc.?
when i open contacts on my iphone there is no option to tap for groups
Where on your phone are you seeing these two contact lists if you don't have any groups? What screen are you looking at when you see them?
The two groups are on my MAC; one of which is called ICloud (which is the one I want to be on my phone) and the other is my email address name which is on my phone
Is the "email address name" your iCloud account ID, or is it a different email account?
