Mail Rules/Filters

There are a couple of links (including discussions.apple) that explain how to move/copy Mail.app rules from one machine to another. They assume, however, that the machines are running the same OS (Mountain Lion or before). Mavericks appears to use a different preference structure and doesn't work.

So: How can I copy my mail.app rules from 10.6.8 (~/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist) to 10.9.2 (?)?

I see ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/SyncedRules.plist, but those two don't appear to be interchangeable.

Please advise.
