I just purchased a brand new iMac, with a ton of ugrades to it. For some reason when I play a game like Counter Strike GO, about every fourth round my computer completely freezes and the only option is to press the power button on the back of the iMac to reboot it. I even tried to download a fan control app so when I play I can turn the fan speed up. However this doesn't seem to fix the issue. Any ideas? Below are my computer specs:
Hardware
- 3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
- 32GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 4X8GB
- 1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5
Software
OS X 10.9.2 (13C64)
kraigballa, I can't believe it but... you and me are having the SAME EXACT problem! When I play my online game StarTrekOnline it freezes ALL THE TIME, it drives me nuts! When I read what was going on and noticed the date; I had no choice but to create an apple I.D. and reply! Perhaps we can research this problem and help each other out! I look foward to it!
Model
- HALF A YEAR OLD Macbook Pro
- Version 10.9.2
- OS X
Startup Disk
- Macintosh HD
Memory
- 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics
- Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
Software
- OS X 10.9.2 (13C64)
- 13-inch, Mid 2012 (although broght it A HALF A YEAR AGO)
I understand now that this has nothing to do with the online games or developers! It is the way Apple makes and runs their computers and systems!

Jun 8, 2014 7:41 AM in response to kraigballaby pandahl,Seems I have the same problem with World-of-Warcraft since I use my new MacPro (with 10.9.3). The game often freezes, other apps (teamspeak) still worked, but I couldn't change to them or end WoW. The only solution is to reboot the Mac.
I recognize the system freezes, if the game trys to load data from the internal SSD!

Jul 17, 2014 5:47 AM in response to MichelPMby John Travitzky,Have you checked the game server forums? I've played diablo, 2, 3, WoW, LoL, and now the Alpha from Blizzard. Many times the server crashed, or just hung me out. Do you get disconnected from server eventually after the hanging up? if so, it may be the game server

I Realize this is an older thread but I didn't catch this before. In response to the original poster if Clean My Mac came with your computer, your computer didn't come directly from Apple. I inquired as to the possibility that a reseller had upgraded your ram and that has been the cause for many 32gb iMacs and users have found that getting the correct ram has solved their issues.
