Upgraded to 10.6, now scanner is not detected.

iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz. Upgraded and updated to 10.6.8. I have an HP scanjet 3670 which quit connecting after the upgrade. Snow Leopard is supposed to be able to scan through Image Capture, but all I get is "No camera or scanner detected." Scanner is on, lamp is lit, connections are secure. Preview will not see it either.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

When this happened to me with an old Canoscan scanner, I reinstalled the driver software (from Canon's site) but noticed that not all the components listed in the VISE installer were actually installed in the proper places. So I simply moved everything I could see to where it should be (the installer incorporated the destination into the file name, so I simply removed that), and now my scanner works again, though only through Photoshop as a plug-in.

I reinstalled the HP software from the HP site. The latest version is for 10.3 and 10.4, but it works. It does not make me confident that it will continue to do so, however. I still do not know why Preview and Image Capture do not show the scanner as connected even in the middle of using it through the HP software successfully.

It's the same with my Canoscan - only Photoshop recognises it, not Preview or Image Capture.

Having said that, it WAS recognised by a trial download of VueScan, so if you're prepared to stump up $39 (or so) that might be the answer. VueScan is very capable software.

Well, at least you are as up to date with that OS as you could be. You now have the App Store and many think it is the best OS of them all.

Did you simply re-install the scanner from the site or did you talk to HP. I have HP (6280) and my scanner does not tick all the boxes. It's not a straightforward press the button; I have to use preview. But it works, and for the little use I have for it, I don't really mind. All the same, talk to them.

Upgraded to 10.6, now scanner is not detected.
