Q: Duplication and splitting of photos?

In my iphoto library I have over 25,000 photos, however I know I have only 5000 or less, the problem is that my photos are duplicated up to 10 times each does anyone know how to get rid of the duplicated ones?

My second issue is quite difficult to explain, but basically if I have one photo of 4 people, this photo is then split into 4 separate photos with only the heads showing and the head is zoomed in, this has caused the orignal photo to become 4 photos etc. I don't know how to delete all the excessive zoomed in photos as I just want to keep the original photos.

Sounds like you imported one Library into another at some point. Do you still have the original library?

THe solution is to move the bad library to the desktop and correctly transfer the library toyour new system - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
