IDVD will be no help. Look to buy a DVD ripper like Macx about $40.

Just convert the format to the one compatible to ipad， like MP4. If HandBrake works not well, try Magic DVD Ripper, it's a good tool on converting formats and maintaining the best quality of the original discs.
