Aperture Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 Unsupported Image Format

Not happy to import my first RAW photos into Aperture 3.5.1 only to find it can't display them. I get Unsupported Image Format. I suppose this means I have to wait for a RAW compatibility update. Am I right? This is a new camera.

The list of currently supported cameras by Aperture is here:

Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support

And the subset available in Mountain Lion: OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats

I cannot find your camera on these lists. Your raw support version is the latest release, so there is nothing you can do about it, but wait, if and when the camera will be supported by Apple.

Try, if you can develope the raw with the software that came with your camera and convert it to TIFF or another lossless format, then import it to Aperture, or try, if the free Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh can develope them.

Added: Apple does not support all cameras, but will give priority to the cameras that most likely will be used by professionals. So it is a good idea to send feedback to Apple, to let them know that raw support for this camera is required. Use this form:

I'll have to shoot JPEG in the meantime.

You could shoot RAW&JPEG and only import the JPEG fo the time being. Aperture has a feature to import the RAW files later and to pair them with the JPEGs, if you do not wipe the cards immediately.

I expect, that the raw developement in your camera is very good and you'll be satisfied with the JPEGs. I have used the several Panasonic cameras, and found the JPEGs to be excellent, if I picked a suitable program in the camera, when I take the photo. I rarely need to import the raw file as well. From the four Panasonic Lumix cameras I used, only the Lumix DMC-FZ50 has Aperture raw support, my current FZ18 has never been supported.
