Hi all,
I am trying to install Age of Empires II: Gold Edition on my Macbook Pro:
OS X Version 10.9.2
2.9GHz Intel Core i7
8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Here is the error message i receive:
Normally with these games it's to do with them only working on Classic Power Macintosh, but it says on the box it is "built for Mac OS X":
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mac OS X was made for Macs with PowerPC CPUs as well as for Macs with Intel CPUs. Since this game’s system requirements note that it works with “Mac OS 8.6 or higher, including Mac OS X”, my guess would be that its Mac OS X support was derived via the Classic Environment emulation up through Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4.11). What is the copyright date of this game? What is the last-modified date of the Read Me file on the Age of Empires II disc?
Thankyou for your help! That makes sense. Got it for £2 from a charity shop and guessed it wouldn't work but was worth a gamble.

557 MB disk space for full install
Installing the game
· Insert the CD and double click the disk icon.
· Double click the Install Age of Empires II icon.
· Choose Easy Install to install the minimum recommended items. Choose Custom Install to access the full installation.
The copyright on the disk says 1997-1999 but the copyright in the manual says 1997-2001.

Does this mean that if i have a new mac i'm not able to play this game?
And if so is their any way to fix this?
So if i have a new MacBook Pro with the newest OS X El Capitan update i will not be able to play this game? And if this is true do you know any way for fixing it?
I think you need to purchase Ago Of Empire III so I would suggest contacting the developers of the game for further information.
