Q: I CANNOT INSTALL MAVRICKS

when i try to install mavericks, i get a message saying it cannot be installed on this computer, i have al the required technical specifications and it still won't do it, i have restarted lots of times. Any help appreciated.

I am using a 2009 macbook air running osx 10.7.5 lion

    First, make sure you have what you think you have:

     

    Hold down the Option Key and select System Information  (or Profiler) from the Apple Menu.

    Look in the Hardware section for Model Identifier. If it is macbookair1,1, then you don't have the necessary hardware. You need a Late 2008 Macbook Air. See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3255

     

    If it does meet the specs, are there any other messages that hint at what is wrong?

    Do you have a Backups.backupdb folder on that drive?

    What is the Partition Map Scheme (Select the hard drive in Disk Utility and it should state the partition type at the bottom).
