Q: Please help me, my macbook pro is slow!

This is directed to LexSchellings

I ran the scan you requested others run, and I am just having issues with speed of my macbook.  My wife and I have a profile and independent iphotos and itunes.  I know it ran faster before, and I am hoping you can help get it back to the old speed. Thanks.

I did get rid of com.apple.CSConfigDotMacCert, I was able to find that.  Did my most recent Etrecheck not show up from this morning? My mac does seem to be running a bit quicker already, but I want to see if there is anything else I can remove to make it run like it used to. Thanks.

I am not familiar with the Leapfrog software, but from what I can see of it, I propose to uninstall it.

Here is a page where you can follow what it says about uninstalling Leapfrog Connect, scroll down to the Mac section:

    http://leapfrog.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1970/kw/How%20do%20i%20unin stall/session/L3RpbWUvMTM5NzIxODY5Ny9zaWQvU19venV3Umw%3D

and forget about the last line "after that you can reinstall".

Leapfrog is a program so I can update and work on my childrens leapfrog tablets.  I noticed my computer is much quicker now, but I still notice it takes a while to log on and start up, any pointers for that?

    Lex,

I think that one is ok. I put that on a friend's machine for her daughter with no ill effects.

    MadMacs0,

The only way to correctly fill out a form online (or offline) is to use the Adobe plug-ins for Safari and not the buit-in WebKit viewer.

I'll have to check when I get time, but my impression was that this situation had improved somewhat. I've never attempted to fill out a form online as I prefer to download and take my time filling it out. Until recently I had always used Reader for fill-in forms and saved it when allowed or printed it out for my records. I know I recently used Mavericks Preview to fill out a form and don't recall that there were any issues in doing so, but I need to double-check.

    Hi Bob,

something weird is going on here: some posts come here after a long time, for example yout post was made 1,5 hrs ago (approx) and still is not here....

But I answer because it is in my Mil app: I think you are referring to Leapfrog. Well, I do not have any experience on it. So I propose to let it be and see how we fare. I could not find any compatibility statement for Mavericks.

    Thanks.

    Hi Lex,

I know, I've seen the same thing over the last few days. I don't think they've run maintenance for awhile, things seem to be getting delayed a lot. I've noticed that if I answer based on the email, the actual post shows up when my new comment gets posted.

I was referring to Leapfrog. I was just adding that I didn't see it cause any ill effects on the machine I put it on. As a matter of fact, it's still on mine because I set it up for her and I'm on Mavericks as well with no issues.

I just wanted to add something for Jesse's last question. You've gotten rid of the problem stuff, but you still load a fair amount of things when you boot up, via Login Items, Launch Agents, etc. The thing is that all of them take a little time to load, so that may be what you're seeing. If you really want more speed, you might want to consider an SSD and a little more RAM. The SSD is what will make the difference at boot time and when you're loading programs, but more RAM will prevent things having to be swapped out to the drive as memory fills. (That's what virtual memory means.)
