I purchased an album, but then a family member gifted me the same one! Can I switch it for an album of the same value??? HELP!

You can't change the gift. The person that sent it to you could resend it to somebody else : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1541
Or, and if they've been charged, they could contact iTunes Support and see if they can get a refund : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
