Why won't the April 2014 iMovie update open?

Recently (about two hours ago), I installed the new April 2014 update of Imovie. however, every time I try and open the application, it says the following:

"iMovie quit unexpectedly. Click reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically." But when I try and click "reopen" or "ok"

The same thing happens. By the way I restarted my computer and tried shutting it down but nothing works can someone please help?
