Q: Why is my iphone 5 loading data with no apps running?

My iphone keeps randomly loading data, when I'm at the home screen I can see the data loading symbol going even if I shut down all app it keeps wasting cellular data. I even turned data off for all aps and turned off everything that uses data and the stupid phone was still loading data. Some it was "system services" with things listed like "iTunes accounts" and "home screen". The iTunes thing wastes the most data and the home screen gas no business using any data. How do I shut this data wasting down without using airplane mode or shutting off data.

My problem is some are obviously fake like "home screen" it can't use data and has no reason to use data but it claims it is which is troubling. But one of the system "services" is documents and data but even after turning off cell data for it its data use keeps rising anyway. I don't want to pay to let the dumb phone waste data doing what whoever is using wants it to.

The system services total is 3.4mb. The home screen one was small(but should be zero) but if I can't control it there no telling how much it will consume in the future.

Since the cellular data use obviously troubles you, why not simply end your misery by doing Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data = "Off"?

You will enjoy your iPhone so much more that way.

My iPhone 5 has the same problem too!! So exasperating. The data doesn't even load when I'm using apps but as soon as I exit to the home screen, it starts to load again.

Anyone has any idea why?
This problem only surfaced today and my iPhone was still workin fine a day ago.
I didn't download any new apps either.

My iPhone 5 with iOS 7 is doing the same thing. I've shut down all cellular but it will transmit via cell or via wifi if at home. Sounds like Apple should reply in this one.

restart your phone. hold top and circle button down for like 6 seconds. it should go away... it did for me.
