How do I get my project folders back into Final Cut X after upgrading to OS X 10.9.2?

Well this really *****. I decided to upgrade my operating system today. I didn't realize that by doing so would wipe out what I worked so hard to build in my Final Cut X projects. I see they are still located in my movies folder. However when I click on them they don't open up. I had everything organized like a fine comb. I open it up now and everything is gone. Empty FCX and I don't understand. Can anyone help me with this? What did I do wrong? Why can't you upgrade without losing everthing?

I assume you have the newer 10.1.1 FCP X now loaded?

Your work is fine but there is an Updating process.

Alchroma,

I viewed the videos you posted. I actually hit update projects and events. But the projects still do not open up. I need to continue working on projects that are already in progress. Any time I click on the actual project folder, for some reason text edit wants to open up.
