macbook air too slow

Hi!


I have had my macbook for almost a year and a half now... everything was fine with it until i upgrated to mavericks. i've read a lot of threads about other people having the same problem but i never understand how they fixed it, mostly because it is computer language that i can NOT understand... Thats why i bought a Mac so i wouldnt have to go through this :S


I only use the computer for school work and music so i dont understand why the memory is so full, and everytime i connect my iphone it turns off and becomes even slower... PLEASE HELP ME 😟


anyhow this is as much as i was able to collect i am close to making an appointmet for the genious bar ( but they are far from me) so if anyone can help i will be suuper greatfull 😀

I see 2 things that are worrisome. First you have only 5GB of freespace. Your operating system and programs create a large number of temporary files and Apple recommends that you keep about 10GB free to accomodate this. You'll need to either find files/applications you can delete or move some data to an external hard drive. Media (movies, digital photos, and music are good candidates to move to an external drive because they are large and will free up space more rapidly than trying to find dozens of document files. For example, my entire Documents folder is smaller than one 2 hour movie.) I've learned that many people have very full Download folders - once you've installed a new program or update you can delete the installer.)


The second worrisome thing has nothing to do with speed, it is that you don't have TimeMachine configured. If you are using another backup program, fine. But if you have no regular backup system in place you need to be aware that it isn't if but when you'll have a catastrophic disk loss. If you aren't backing up begin doing so.
