Why Can't I Sync Songs?

I got my iPod last April, and someone else synched the songs to it for me, but they didn't include every song in my library. I didn't realize this until a few weeks ago, so I tried to plug it in and add those songs to it, but I can't sync any of the songs. The only songs that I can add are the ones that I have purchased since I purchased the iPod. Why can't I sync the songs that I want?

Also, when I tried to sync it, it changed the album covers of three of my artists (it put the LMFAO Sorry For Party Rocking album cover for Katy Perry's prisim, a thumbnail of a video podcast that my brother downloaded as the album cover for Imagine Dragons Night Visions, etc etc).

Do the non-syning songs play in iTunes on the computer?

Have those songs synced to the iPod before? The format may not be compatible with the iPod.

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Unsync/delete all music and resync

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
