SuperDrive not automatically activating

I've never had any issues with my super drive. I insert CDs, DVDs, games etc and it's always been perfect. Today I wanted to rip a CD into my iTunes. I put the disc in and nothing happened. The automatic machine grab didn't activate. There is no noise. Just... nothing. I've tried several discs and it is doing the same. There is just no response from my superdrive.

I've gone through steps in the Apple Support. Reset the SMC. I've searched through the community and while there are others having issues with their superdrive, I cannot find anybody that have the same problem as me.

Are there any other steps I can take to try and get the mechanism inside the computer to work or will it have to be taken to an Apple Store?
