Getting "connection to the server p04-smtp.mail.me.com on the default ports timed out"
Have tried on two different ISP's (home and office) with same result so I don't think it is a SMTP block.
Any suggestions?

I have this problem too - just started today
Same issue an my iMac and iPhone. Can receive email but can not send. All messages go to outbox and then a message comes up... "account does not have a preferred outgoing mail server"........icloud offline.
Have tried everything as well. No outgoing email on Mac, Ipad or Iphone5.
Internet provider did patch last night for heartbleed vulnerability last night and told me it sometimes takes apple products long time to "find" it.
It's definitiely a WIFI thing no matter where I am.
I also have an icloud email but local provider doesn't work either.
Anybody with answers/solutions? I've tried everything. Different ports, passwords, no passwords. First smtp will connect but won't send then icloud is disconnected. Then icloud connects but smtp doesn't connect. Neither will send mail. So frustrating.
Same problem here. I can send email via the icloud web interface but not via the mail app on my mac.
I rang the helpline yesterday & Apple told me it was a system error at their end that they were working on
Having the same problem here in the UK, has anything been released by Apple? is anything being done?
Same problem here in the Netherlands. I can receive email on my Mac and iPhone, but sending mail is not possible. Sending mail is possible via icloud.com though.
It would be nice if Apple could provide us with some details about the issue and when they think they have solved it.
Have contacted Apple Support this morning who said that the engineers were working on it and I also said it would be helpful if they could send out a message with details etc so that I didn't waste time trying to sort it out

Same problems in Australia, plus my icloud account will not send email and just hangs waiting for webcourier.push.apple.com
Cannot send @me.com mail using the server iCloud.
