Q: installing os x mavericks

How exactly do I find out whether or not I can install os x mavericks, specifically when my macbook pro was purchased/built. I'm not sure if it early 2007 or late.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Open the Mac App Store and try downloading it. This won't be allowed on an incompatible configuration.

If your computer's hardware is actually incompatible, no, there isn't. If there's not enough RAM or disk space, that can be corrected.

i guess that's what i'm asking then how can i find out if it early 2007 or late? To my knowledge, i have enough RAM and disk space.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click the version twice, append the last three characters of its serial number to http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords= , and load the page.

That's a late 2006 MacBook Pro. As stated on the model's page, it can't be upgraded past 10.7.5.
