How do I add 3D depth between two 2D objects?

I have a 2D logo that consists of 2 seperate pieces. When I spin the logo on the Y axis, both objects look completely flat like one single object when the spin gets to 90º


I would like to add some depth between the 2 objects to make the scene look more 3D. Can this be done?User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

you can give the animation an extra 'kick' by adding some simulated 3D-ness (no real 3D, sort-of)

For real 3D, there's mObject ... not cheap but awesome!

When you 'get' the idea, it is dead-simple - just piling tons-of replications so close together, that it looks 'solid' - that's why I call it semi-3D ... adding some lights hides its imperfection .. 😝
