Problems with OS X Mavericks

I recently downloaded the OS X Mavericks download and once I set it up and create a account it goes back to the beginning of the set up everytime and I tried rebooting my computer but it goes right back to the setup page and I'm just frustrated and don't even want to download the update anymore I tried command-r but it's no help at all I just need some answers on how I can get back to my desktop cause now the setup won't let me exit out of it
