My iPod is not recognized by any stereo!

So, recently I found my iPod and decide to use it for music in my car stereo; it used to be my mom's stereo and she used to use my iPod to listen to music.

Since I did not like any of the music anymore had set my iPod to factory settings.

After that, I connected my iPod to my laptop and put in my music and updated the iOS 2.2.1 (because I had never done it before).

Then I tried to update iOS 4 and it didn't let me, so I went to check out if the iPod worked in my stereo and it didn't.

You can keep it connected for as many time as you wish and it just says:

T 1/223 (tracks) Connecting...

I thought that maybe it could have been an issue with the cable, but when I tried to connect it in my dad's stereo, it just said: ERROR

I decided to look up why and many people had the same issue and said it was because they had updated it. So, what I thought was that maybe if I formatted my iPod it wouldn't have 2.2.1 anymore but it still does... and I have done this many times but it just doesn't seem to work; I even try to update it again but nothing.

Can someone please help me?

If it helps, it an iPod Touch (the one that has no cameras or mic, the very first iPod Touch).

(PS when I want to log into facebook through my iPod, I cannot fill in the fields of E-mail & Password, even when I select "forgot password" I can't type anything in the field of E-mail / Full Name / Phone Number, but other than that, it works... I mean only there is where it doesn't work, but in other pages and in notes or other stuff it does '-')

If your iPod does not have volume buttons on the upper left edge or an internal speaker it is a 1G (original iPod) that can be updated as far as 3.1.3

Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)

https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/touchLegacyLandingPage

- A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10 or higher. If a Mac it requires OSX 10.5.8 or later.

- A 3G to 5.1.1 Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later

Are you connecting the iPod via the dock connector?

Have yo went to the stereo system's support site?
