New user account- safari always on!!

My wife and i have two laptops. She has a 2011 air, i have a 2008 pro. My battery is not as great as it used to be, so i made a user account on hers.

By doing so- safari and chrome (she likes it) keeps coming on- and will not stay off. I quit both apps and they turn on instantly again.

I have had macs since 2004 and have never had trouble with user accounts, only now in mavericks.

Any help?

Cheers.

I noticed that chrome kept starting and asking for my wife's account to be signed into on my new user account.

I delted Chrome and all of its files and folders. Now safari is constantly turning on- ONLY when i sign into my account. If i log out, it stays off. Not sure what the heck is going on. When i log into my side safari turns on and a notification comes on saying that Safari is trying to access a site, will i allow it or not.

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it, but to no avail. When i log into the newly added user account, safar opens immediately and i cannot get it to stay quit- it just keeps turning back on. And as this is a laptop, not a desktop- when i do not want safari on so as to preserve battery life, i want it to be off.

I understand the chance of it being a third party problem, but i deleted chrome (which my wife had as the default browser). And now it is safari that is always on, so long as i am log into the new account we created.
