Upgrade to SSD Timecapsule

I just bought a SSD for my 2011 Macbook Pro... I have never back it up with time capsule .... Can i use the SSD to TC and then install the SSD as primary Hard Drive in my laptop? I don't have a 3rd HardDrive to make the TC .... If not any suggestions?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

The easy way to do this is to put your SSD in an external enclosure and use Carbon Copy Cloner to make an exact copy of your drive to the SSD.

And no, you couldn't do it the way you asked. A TC backup would not be a bootable drive. What I described above would be, and it also gives you a spare drive for backups. When it's all done, put the old HD in the enclosure and you have an external drive.
