Unable to send emails via iCloud

Since yesterday, unable to send emails usng my macbook or iphone, is the server down? have searched internet via Apple and nothing flagging there is an issue. Recriving incoming emails though, just the outgoings one. Vert frustrating as to call Apple support will cost me £35 when i have not changed any settings.
