It is a fairly large download, but it should have completed by the time I responded to you, here.

Has it restarted and is showing the progress bar?

    Thanks for the response....

Yes it did restart and showed the progress bar....down to "1 minute remaining" ....then the message disappeared...the progress bar wa app 90 blue...I got excited....but to no avail...I restarted via power off button about 5 minutes ago as I cannot wait any longer....

The installation went smooth and quick on my ols MBA 11" 64G...

I checked now : the current verson on the new MBA is OX 10.9 ....could that be the problem ...should I first do the 10.9.1 update?

Also : yestersday I purchased and downloaded (via internet) Mac Office 2011 Home & Student from MS...thus a 3rd party app...could that be the problem?

Although : I also have that app on my old MBA (installed via CD)....cuased no problem...

    Thanks for your time!

My problem was solved! After having restarted using the 'power off' button I  again clicked on the 'restart' button of the App Store update. Within minutes 10.9.2 was installed and I am up and running and a happy apple chappie again!
