Q: Logic Pro 9 Audio Unit 32-bit Bridge Unable to Force Quit

Hi all Logic Pro gurus,

I'm using Logic Pro 9 and am facing this problem.

Once in a while,  I tried completely quit Logic Pro (cmd-Q), but the 32-bit audio unit bridge remains and doesn't quit by itself.

Even though I tried to force quit the audio bridge; either by (cmd-alt-esc & force quit) or (right click at icon & force quit), it remains there unresponsive.

This makes me unable to shut down my Mac Mini. I have to manually hold down the power button to force shut down the whole computer.

Not sure if this is healthy to my computer in the long run.

But anyways, does anyone of you have encounter this problem before?

Computer system:

Mac Mini

OS X ver. 10.9.2

Processor 2.6GHz Intel Core i7

No. of Core: 4

Memory 16 gb

Startup disc is a SSD

Runs all my Logic projects from my SSD.

Any comments/advices and experience are welcome and much appreciated!

Thanks!

Mac mini

The 32bit bridge has a long history of instability... so your experiences are not unusual.

This is probably one of the major reasons why the bridge and use of 32bit plugins, was finally removed in LPX..... as LPX only supports 64bit AU plugins.

However, you can use something like VEP or 32Lives to run 32bit plugins in LP9 64bit mode.. without the use of the 32bit bridge (and in LPX which doesnt have the bridge) and this does improve stability.
