Q: Apple TV server not responding

My Apple TV is having a problem with the apple server going too slow and not playing filmed, I can see the films but not play them via Apple TV, I can however play them in he on my iPad Air via iTunes so I assume the Apple TV server is overloaded?

The Apple servers are not slow, why do you believe they are?

What is the problem that you are having?

Most slowness issues are the direct result of issues with the local network or the users Internet connection.

Turns out it was the Apple TV unit itself, restarting it fixed the problem, shouldn't they have gotten past issues like this by now.

The issue was with your network, a reboot will reset the connection.

Why haven't they made it try to auto reset it's connection when this type of error occurs?

A reboot needs to occur in order for that to happen.

The issue will likely occur again as it's a problem with your network and nothing has been done to rectify that. This will come down to the user's setup and not the device.

I have been having the same issue for the past day or so. Mine Apple TV either wont connect at all or when it does it has major buffering problems. I have had both my Apple TVs almost a year and I have never had this problem. I know for a fact that its not my internet becuase I have several other devices in the house connected (i.e. MacBook, iPhone, iPad, PC laptop) and they all are working fine on my internet. Any other solutions that you could think of that could fix this problem other then restarting it as this didn't fix my problem.

    TIA.

It may be working on other devices but that does not rule out a network issue.

Go to netstumbler to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise. Using ethernet will help verify if there are wifi issues.

Ensure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network)

This is most certnainly not a network issue.

I have 2 Gen 1 Apple TV's and they both went mysteriously haywire today.

Loss of menus other then My TV Shows and my Shared TV Shows and major buffering issues if I can actually get a show playing as the unit continually tries to add the Top TV Show icons at the top of the screen.

It came good about 2 hours ago but is gone again.

    Very very frustrated.

I hope it comes good in the morning as I am sure this is an Apply TV Server issue.
