facetime 1.04 issues

I had not a single problem with FaceTime 1.03 but as a new version was proposed, I downloaded and installed it.

Now the Console application shows tenths of lines stating that errors occur with imagent (a process linked with FaceTime) User uploaded file

I tried to purge system caches, repaired authorisations, changed DNS... to no avail

Then I disabled FaceTime and tried to re-enable it. But eventhough I'm sure to type the correct user email and correct password, FaceTime can't validate this user and after a while display a connection error.

It looks like I encounter the issue that some users had with the previous version and that this 1.04 release is suppose to address!!!

Where could I re-download the 1.03 version thaht was working like a charm on my iMac?

iMac C2D 20", MacBook Pro 15"-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Maybe you're right about the version number. As the new one is labelled 1.04, I thought the previous one was 1.03 (I can't check its version number as it has been replaced by the new one...)

Whatever...

I think I've tried everything to make the new version work, to no avail.

I've suppressed the plist files (com.apple.FaceTime.plist and com.apple.imservice.FaceTime.plist)

I've supressed the system caches files

I've rebooted the Mac

I've tried on a fresh new account

I've tried to connect FaceTime with a new ID (I tried to create a new account with another email address... It can't create the new account. If I try to create the new acccount with the ID I previously used, it tells me thaht this ID already exists but if I confirm that I want to continue by using it, it can't finalize the connection)

I've tried to suppress any refernce to FaceTime in the Keychain Access app (as you'll see below that an error refers to a failure with keychain and an error with a saved certificate

The error messages I get in the Console are:

13/04/14 08:42:00FaceTime[399]code signature failure for keychain, error -67050
13/04/14 08:42:00FaceTime[399]ApplePushService: +[APSCertificateStorage identityForName:]: Couldn't find identity for saved cert name 75990CC1-9381-4A21-AC29-0208E3AC2FF0

and after a while, FaceTime stops trying to connect and displays: '"Connection impossible. Check your network connection and try again"

I disabled the Firewall... same issue

I will try to find the 1.02version and will reinstall it (as it worked just fine!)

I wonder why I installed this new release as I had no issue with the previous one... :-(

Would you mind sharing the download? I upgraded as well, same issues, even more attempts to fix it, to no avail.

Unfortunately I can't get the 1.0.2 version back as I upgraded to 1.0.4 without keeping a backup of the old version ... I need to send the MacBook to my parents in law asap so they can see their grandchild ....

Thanks!

Guys, just to give you an update, I tried to move back to version 1.0.2, which was working fine, but now ran into issues with "registering device does not have appropriate credentials", seems I'm completely stuck now, can't buy (for the 2nd time) Facetime from the App store either as it says it is already installed.

The solution: I installed Microsoft Skype. Works like a charm. Will use it until Apple releases a new version of FaceTime. It's a shame, I hope they don't screw up with their new product launch this year, otherwise I should definately start selling my Apple shares .....

Thanks Lanny,

Yes tried almost everything new admin account, new user account, even did a deep dive into the system looking for old plist files, old installation pkg, bom list, etc. Usually I get most stuff to work, as I program myself, 🙂 but not this time ....

Looking into the various discusions on the web it seems a lof of people are affected with a buggy release of FaceTime. I hope the update will not take too long.
