I have an ipad, version 5.1.1 and ibooks no longer works, i have followed advice re restarting etc but no joy. is there a way i can send the contents somewhere and retieve them especially pdf's? i have synced with itunes and they are not accessible with my laptop. any advice would be gratefully recieved.

The latest version of iBooks in the App Store will not work with iOS 5.1.1.
However, you can download a compatible version of iBooks onto your iPad as shown here:
thank you, I tried that but no luck. I went to the app store on my ipad, clicked update, and a compatible version was offered which i accepted - after download completed ibooks opens very briefly with empty shelves leaving me hoping it will open fully stocked but then the app just closes. any more suggestions?
Try a reset. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
No, same thing, ibooks opens and closes pretty quickly. Anything else? I appreciate your brain power and thanks in advance.
