Can't unlock iPad after rotation

After I press the Wake button and if I rotate the iPad 90 degrees afterwards (during when it displays the unlock screen) I can no longer unlock the iPad as it won't let me slide to unlock (I think it gets confused as to what rotation to use). I'm using ios7 on an iPad 4. I have to reset it to be able to use it again.
