Importing Photos Issue

So basically, I was importing images from my iPhone 5, to my MacBook Pro. The import was stuck on one picture so I decided to just stop the import, but now, none of the pictures that have already been imported are on my computer, and it says that images are importing still and it won't let me close the iPhoto application. Is there any way for me to make the application force quit? Thanks so much in advance for any help I get!!
