I cannot add my gmail account to the mail in the system settings

I reset my gmail pw, when I enter it in the mail function of the system settings, it fails to transmit the proper pw. It says the pw is wrong.

I know the pw is correct bc I can log on to my account from other devices. I powered my iPod touch 4th Gen, latest IOS 6.

Help Pls.

Are you trying to setup the account using the wasy you selected in Google preferences? Gmail can be setup as either POP3 or IMAP.

thanks for your help, It turns out that an additional issue was I initiated the two step verification for Gmail. I had generated a one time verification code, and thought I had entered it correctly, but must have made an error.

I repeated this and used your suggestion from wikihow method 2 and my mail is coming in now thanks again, Rob
