Q: Using swipe to navigate pages in iadproducer

Hi,

I am writing a book and as I plan on using lots of animation I want to do the whole book as a single widget as I have seen others do. The only thing I cannot work out is how to turn pages using swipe. I will be implementing buttons as well for the Mac users but the tablet readers expect the intuitive swipt to turn. I could put every page into a carousel, but now the swiping is way to fast - i do not see this as a valid option.

So if anyone can give me any direction here I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Kelly

I think you'd be happier with a book comprised of both widgets and other content types.

A widget can only be on one iBook page at a time.

A widget requires a tap to begin its interactivity and animation - it'll just sit there until tapped.

A widget isn't gaurenteed to remain in the state it was last seen so when your reader comes back, it may or may not be active and may have reset back to its original state - may be frustrating to your users.

Other content types (like text) are key to some of the more useful features of an iBook such for looking up word definitions, content highlighting and sharing, bookmarks, page numbers, flow layout across devices, etc.

Hey Mark, Thanks for the response but we need to do way more animation than ibooks allows for. Basically we want to create an app like book. Trouble is apple is no longer allowing apps that look like books into the appstore, so we are forced to try and get an app into ibooks other ways. There are a few tools out there but I like iadproducer the best. However the ability to have characters walk around the book as you are reading and great interactive content ontop of the words is impossible with widgets, they take over the whole screen then need to be closed. Not a great user experience for what we are after.

We just read a great book called "The slightly annoying elephant". There is one launch "page" holding a few widgets and the whole book is a widget. Exactly what we are looking for.

I just need to get the swipe to change pages working!

Any clues/code you can give greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
