FCP X taking forever to load on start

Im using the latest version of FCP X but when I try to open it the program it is taking like up to 4-5 mins to load. My current project on has photos in it to date so I cant see why this is happening. Is this common? If not, is there some way that it can be spead up please? I keep having to delete preferences from time to time so restarting is rather time taking and tedious.

Thank you for your help

One thing that will speed loading time is to close any libraries that you don't need to work on.

Also, don't let libraries get too large. If you have a library with many events in it, make a new library and move the active event to the new library. Close the other library so the app load it when you launch FCP.

If you have a great quantity of high resolution photos, that can slow things down. Consider resizing them in a photo editor to match the size of your project resolution.

Drawing audio wave forms is resource-intensive. You can turn that off in preferences until you need them for audio editing.

Make sure you have at least 15% free space on your boot drive.

Thank you for your reply. I had also been having problems with Time Machine Backups since yesterday and ran Disk Utilities. Seems that I have a major problem with disk so now doing a full reformat and will reinstall FCP X and see how I go. Hopefully my backups of the project which I have taken so far will work.

Once again, many thanks for your suggestions. If I still have any problems I will come back as there are a couple of things you mentioned that Im not quite sure of how to do.
