Just imported photos from my camera to my iPad mini, had no issues there, but I now would like to upload them to dropbox so i can free up the space again and as far I can tell there is no option to now upload them to my dropbox.

On my Dropbox you upload from the Dropbox app itself. I don't know if it makes a difference with imported photos.
You can also upload directly to Dropbox.
yeah i tried that setting, but it will only upload photos i have actually taken with the device, but the three dots allowed m eto do what i wanted, so thank you
You can also copy your photos from the camera SD Card to Dropbox on your computer. It will automatically appear on your iPad.
