My iPhone doesn't connect with my iMac.

Recently my hard drive on my iMac crashed and I had to get a new external hard drive. I was able to retrieve most of my applications, including iLife, which includes iPhoto.

For the first time since my hard drive crash, I tried to connect my iPhone 5S to my iMac to transfer my video clips. Connecting my iPhone to my iMac charges the battery in my iPhone, but iPhoto doesn't open up like it used to and my pictures and my videos on my iPhone don't come up on my iMac.

How do I fix this? Is my iMac missing anything?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer

Hello Orange County California

Make sure that your iPhone is set to trust your iMac to get a proper connection as well as looking over the second article to make sure that it has a good connection through the USB cable.
