I uploaded some images today from my iphone 5 and discovered several are only 960x1280 instead of the full
resolution 3264x2448. It seems when I sent the photos by MMS or Facebook message the phone PERMANENTLY resized the images overwriting the high res originals.
I consider this a major bug.
Is there a way to recover the high res images?

Are they not still on your phone? If not, then no.
Complain to your carrier & Facebook about the resizing, but be aware, this is not a bug, rather done by design.
To clarify : I'm uploading the photos via a USB cable to my computer. I expected the images to be high res but any image I've previously sent via MMS or similar comes across as low res only.
As these are the best images I took I really want the high res versions!
When you import photos to your computer, the resolution is not changed. When you send by MMS, your carrier, as all do, resizes the images.
Well my iphone 4 didnt work for like to weeks because my phone is in recovery mode and it dosent want ot come out because it always says error 1 update itunes and it is updated to 11.1.5 anyone please help me?
I agree when I send an MMS resolution of the original image on my phone shouldn't change. However it does - that's the bug!
Can someone try it on their phone and confirm this for me

- send it to someone via mms or Facebook messenger
- upload it from the phone to a computer via USB
What resolution is the image on the PC?
I've figured it out - the images are low res but for a different reason
The front camera is only 1.2Mp not 8mp like the rear one. As I almost never use the front camera
I'd not discovered this previously a big thanks to those who tried to help!
