Can't share photos from iPhoto to iCloud

I am trying to share photos from within iPhoto to iCloud.

When I select a photo and click "Share", none of the share option (including) iCloud are selectable.

I made sure that in "System Preferences" the "Photo" option is selected, as well as "Photo Sharing".

This is on an iMac running OS X Mavericks and iPhoto version 9.5.1.

This feature worked before on this machine, and it still works on my MacBook (same OS and iPhoto versions).

Any ideas?

And are the same option enabled in the "iPhoto > iCloud" preferences? You can only share from one iPhoto library at a time. If you switch between iPhoto libraries, the Photo Stream will be disabled in the new library.

Yes, the same options are enabled in iPhoto Preferences.

In the meantime I solved the problem by rebooting my iMac!

Probably iPhoto has still been running or cached to be resumed, when you changed the System Preferences, and this way did not see the changed preferences, when you restarted it. Then rebooting is the safest way.
