iPad mini using external blue tooth gps

I want to connect my iPad mini (wifi only) to a Bluetooth GPS to use for navigation at sea. Can this be done and how. The Bluetooth GPS I have is Qtrek blue GPS-S3

iPad mini Wi-Fi, iOS 7.1
