iPad mini screen not working / black

I have a similar problem to this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5101763?answerId=22239167022#22239167022

Note that this is a completely black screen, not even a "backlit black". Now allow me to walk through all your typical troubleshooting scenarios:

1. The device was updating apps, screen went blank (not using more than an hour after being fully charged)

2. Holding the Home button, Siri would ask for input

3. After a while, the iPad went into powersave mode and now Siri will just say that it is not connected to the Internet

4. Tried plugging into a power source (still blank)

5. Hold Home and Power Button; iPad will reboot and computer will complain again about it being passcode locked; Apple display never appears during reboot.

6. Plugged into computer; iTunes claims it is passcode locked and cannot access it (still blank)

7. Hold down power button and swipe across top where I remember "swipe to power off" being; iPad turns off (as Home button / Siri talking no longer works)

8. What the heck do I do now?!?!

You ipad may have a hardware problem but try Recovery Mode.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
