Does AP sync with camera brand

I know that the camera name and model appers in the Info and Adjustment panes in the Inspector.

But does the program automatically compensate for the camera specifications/parameters built in by the Nikon company?

Aperture 3, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), running an iMac

Are you shooting RAW or JPEG?

If you are importing JPEGs, all camera specific parameters will be already included in te JPEG, when the camera developes the RAW image.
If you are importing RAW file into Aperture, then Aperture will use a camera specific raw support to develope the file, but certain settings will not be used, e.g. Canon's Highlight Tone Priority and Nikon's Active D-Lighting, see Keith Barkley's user tip:

I only shoot RAW (NEF). And from time to time, I go to church and pray before doing an import, 🙂

After all these months, Aperture scares me a little. Thanks for you help. And I'll read the links.
