Q: Bluetooth - both iMac & iPhone "discoverable" but neither is found

In setting up a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse on an old Mac, I "forgot" my current iMac on my iPhone and deleted the iPhone from the Devices listing on the iMac Bluetooth Preferences page. I thought their Bluetooth signals might be causing interference, but I've since discovered other roadblocks and have successfully paired the keybaord and mouse. (I know. I should have just turned them off!!!)

Now I can't re-pair my iMac and iPhone because neither shows up on the other, although both are "discoverable". I have Reset Network Settings on the iPhone, but that made no diference.

Suggestions?

Other than network tethering (the availability of which is up to the network carrier on the iPhone), there's not much that happens between a Mac and an iPhone via Bluetooth.

Save for tethering, your Mac typically connects to your iPhone via higher-powered WiFi, and not lower-powered Bluetooth. Transfers of pictures and other such data typically either happen via iTunes and a cable, or via WiFi and a shared iCloud account.

Thnaks, Mr Hoffman....

I wasn't sure whether Bluetooth is needed to communicate between phone and Mac and thought I had "forgotten" and deleted items I needed.

So does iOS7 purposely not show either of two "discoverable" Macs within two feet on it Devices list, since computers are apparently "incompatible"? I'm puzzeled becasue an older iBook running OS10.4 shows the iPhone.
