any info on how to work with pitch bend in Hyper Editor

...would be very handy. I'm trying to created a drum roll with STUDIO BRUSH KIT in MIDI that starts with a snare hit and lower the pitch of subsequent beats so they create a sort of descending tone to a bass drum kick. Anyone have ideas on this or has anyone done something similar. Thanks

Hi

The default HyperSet (LP9) or LaneSet (LPX) has a definition already set up for Pitch Bend. Simply enter the MIDI events as required, but rememeber that the overall effect will ultimately depend on the bend range of the receiving Software Instrument.

To get a smooth pitch change, you will probably want to use a fine grid.

Hi

Sure it can be done both in Hyper Edit (LP9) Lane Edit (LPX) , or in the Piano Roll, Score & List editors.

The basic idea is to enter a Pitch bend off (ie PB=64) in between notes as a reset, the required PB messages through the duration of the note, followed by a PB reset back to 64 message immediately after the end of the note.

It would help if you could confirm which version of Logic you are using (terminology, some functionality and look different).

There are no charts for this kind of thing. Even if there were, every synth is going to respond differently so any chart would only be applicable to the synth it was derived from.

Sure, you can start with trying some math, but there's no guarantee that the number will work out. Even if they got you close, you might not end up with a perfect Bb no matter what you do. Suggest that the easiest approach is by trial and error.
