Apr 14, 2014 3:04 AM in response to bsnzby Michael Allbritton,An Apple ID is used in more than one place in OS X and they do not all have to be the same Apple ID. For example an iTunes Store account can be one Apple ID and an iCloud account can be another Apple ID. So there is no one place to change an Apple ID.
Tell us specifically what you want to do and we can better help you.

Since you posted in the "iTunes for Mac" area of the Apple Support Communities, I will assume that you do not mean what you say above, as that is not related to iTunes.
In your original post, you said: "Their (sp) Apple ID is still associated with the computer ..." "Associated" is an iTunes term. So if you are trying to associate the computer to your Apple ID, you do not need to remove the former Apple ID association first. Simply follow the guidelines at the top of the HT4627 article I attached above.

Apr 14, 2014 4:12 PM in response to sbermanby bsnz,Sorry if this is the wrong place in the forum but it seems that iTunes/App Store is where the issue is coming from. There are two apps - iMovie and iPhoto that are creating the problem. When I go to update them, the original users Apple ID is greyed out and I can't change it. As I went through the article, it showed me how to remove a device from an Apple ID but not have to associate the device with the Apple ID.
I kept looking in the forum and I think the answer to my question is in the below. It looks like I need to delete them off the computer and reloading them under my Apple ID.

Apr 14, 2014 8:13 PM in response to bsnzby sberman,This article describes what to do when selling or giving away a Mac. It basically explains how to purge all the identifying information from the previous owner out of the Mac. It sounds like this is what you need to do. Then the bottom of the artiicle explains you can get into setup mode and set the machine up belonging to a new user (you).

For future reference, if I were posting a question like this, I would have placed it in the Mountain Lion (or Mavericks) area instead of iTunes.
