Q: I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8. I need to update the software to a more recent version. With my current 10.5.8 version, I cannot install a new printer. How do I update the 10.5.8 version to, at least, a 10.6.6 version? Thank you.

I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8. I need to upgrade to at least a 10.6.6 in order to install a new printer's software package. How can I upgrade ther 10.5.8 to something higher/more recent?? Thank you.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.

If it's a PowerPC Mac, it's already running the newest OS it can.
If it's an Intel Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.

If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

Your Mac can upgrade to v10.6 Snow Leopard if it meets the requirements > System requirements for OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6
