Mac won't let me login!

Today I was using my Mac logging in and out of it under the admin. Name, (it's the only one I use); I come home from work and it just simply won't let me log into it, even though I used it and it was just fine a few hours prior..... I did change the password recently but it recognized lt and I used the new password to log into it earlier as well, but now it's not accepting the new or old password how do I log back in??

All right. Go to Terminal. If youre logged in as an Administrator, this procedure will unlock all your user files, reset their ownership, and remove their access-control lists.

Enter the following command in the Terminal:

{ sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-

If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.

If youre not logged as administrator, start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities>Terminal

Type this: resetpassword

Select your Mac HD;

Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account;

Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button;

Restart.

Let me know if works.

You can reset a password at login as well:

To reset an account password from the login window:

1 - Enter the three incorrect passwords and then a pop-up menu will appear. This pop-up menu may display a password hint if one is set;

2 - If you wish to reset the user's password using a master password: click the arrow-in-a-circle icon next to master password. Next, enter the master password once, followed by the user's new password twice, and optionally a new password hint;

3 - If you wish to reset the user's password using a apple ID: click the arrow-in-a-circle icon next to Apple ID. Next, enter an appropriate Apple ID with password, and then click the Reset password button. After the system authenticates the Apple ID, you can enter a new password twice and optionally a new password hint.

Once you have entered the appropriate password information, click the reset password button to log the user into her existing account.
